While trailers are able to transport thousands of different items of all shapes and sizes, there are certain materials you’ll want to avoid at all costs. To find out what is and isn’t okay to haul in your trailer, check out our article below.

Hazardous Materials

While this may seem obvious at first, you may be surprised to find how many everyday items could be classified as hazardous. Cleaning materials, compressed air, gasoline, propane, and oil are all common items that are typically considered hazardous—especially in large quantities. Unless you have a model specifically designed to carry hazardous items we strongly advise against hauling them in your trailer.

Sharp Objects

When possible we recommend avoiding transporting sharp objects in your trailer. Not only are these items likely to damage the bed of your trailer but, if secured incorrectly, could damage your tires or tow vehicle as well. If you do need to transport sharp objects in your trailer, be sure to secure them very carefully. It may also be a wise idea to use moving blankets or thick fabric to protect your trailer from the item’s sharp edges.

Animals

With the exception of livestock models, you should never try to transport an animal in the back of your trailer. Not only will your trailer lack the necessary facilities for the animal, but it’s likely to result in extreme stress or even an injury to the animal.
