Cleaning your equipment is an important part of its preventative care and upkeep. Without regular cleanings your construction equipment is likely to rust, freeze up, and even corrode, leading to plenty of other costly maintenance issues. For a guide on how to clean your construction both inside and out, check out our guide below.

Washing Your Equipment

To begin, grab a power washer—or a hose if nothing else is available—and begin rinsing your construction equipment from top to bottom, doing your best to remove as much dirt and debris as possible. If your equipment hasn’t been cleaned in at least 6 months, we recommend applying an acid wash to remove the majority of your model’s muck and grime. Follow up with an automotive soap and scrub brush to remove any stuck-on debris, making sure to work in sections and rinse as you go. Once your model has been scrubbed and completely rinsed, allow it to dry in the sun. If you applied an acid wash, we recommend following up with a protective wax and polish.

Cleaning the Cab

The easiest way to clean the interior of your construction equipment is to find a compressor and use the pressurized air to blow out the majority of the dirt that’s built up in the cab of your machinery. However, a vacuum or leaf blower could also do the job. Once the loose dirt has been removed from your cab, follow up with a broom and wet rag to remove the dirt from the crevices and corners of your equipment cab. Afterward, use a rag and some cleaner to get your windows and mirrors looking clean once again.
